The Valley Committee for the Los Angeles Philharmonic is a congenial group of women in the San Fernando Valley who are dedicated to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month, when we enjoy lunch and a music program after a short business meeting. All members are subscribers to an LA Phil series, or make a donation to provide tickets for students throughout the Los Angeles area.

Our social gatherings are fun, sometimes including guests. A recent special event was a trip to Walt Disney Concert Hall by bus for a fascinating private tour and talk about the library of orchestral music. The Librarian described her interactions with the Director of the LA Phil and visiting conductors as well. We then proceeded to lunch at Traxx in the historic Union Train Station.
A favorite tradition of our members is a beautiful holiday tea in December instead of a regular meeting.
Members’ responsibilities include:
- Annual dues or donation, and participation in Committee activities
- Volunteering to assist with the Saturday Toyota Symphonies for Youth and the weekday series “Symphonies for Schools.”
- Participating in fund-raising events. Each year the Valley Committee produces an elegant Salon featuring an LA Phil musician in recital, usually in a private home with wine and hors d’oeuvres following the music. It is an informal “up-close” opportunity to meet one of our fine LA Phil musicians.

Funds are raised to provide tickets with bus transportation for San Fernando Valley school children to attend a Toyota Symphony for Youth concert including related arts experiences before the concert.
